Liz Roche Company is committed to Nurture, Investigate & Stimulate

We INVESTIGATE artistic methodologies and practices, assemble knowledge through company research, shared networks, archiving, and examine deep-rooted societal constructs through universal movement and artistic expression.

IntraSpaces is a creative partnership with the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at University of Limerick (IWAMD) and is an experimental space for collaboration on research, performance and pedagogy.

Liz Roche Company is Company- in -Residence at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and spends up to one month per year developing new work on campus. This partnership model between the university and professional dance organisation supports the development and dissemination of dance knowledges across the Irish and international arts and research landscape.

Interdisciplinarity is key, with a view to creating opportunities for shared projects to intersect with a range of Academy faculty, students and courses.

Liz Roche Company offers open access to students into its working practices supported by the expertise of the company dancers, associated dance artists and creative collaborators in sound, light, set, costume and dramaturgy.

Particular alignments for shared performance projects are envisioned with the MA Contemporary Dance Performance and the new MA Composition and Creative Music Practice.

Modes of Capture Symposium

The Modes of Capture Symposium came into being in 2019 as a result of Liz Roche Company's creative partnership with the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick. Curated that year by Dr. Jenny Roche, Dr. Roisin Gorman and Liz Roche the symposium invited scholars and performers to present their work on campus and at our partner venues, the Lime Tree Theatre and Dance Limerick. Dublin Dance Festival also hosted an introductory event during their May festival that saw Jenny Roche in conversation with Linda Murray, curator, Jerome Robbins Dance Division, New York Public Library, choreographer and dancer Finola Cronin and ex-director of Dance Umbrella Val Bourne OBE at Project Arts Centre.

In 2020 the symposium was presented online at Dublin Dance Festival's Digital Capsule. MOCS commissioned 24 Presentations and movement responses from renowned dance specialists, choreographer/dancers and academics including Rebecca Hilton Professor of Choreography, University of Stockholm, Siobhan Davies, London, Susan Sentler La Salle Singapore, Carol Brown Head of VCA Dance at the University of Melbourne and dancer/choreographers Theo Clinkard, Luke Murphy, Kévin Coquelard, Anne-Laure Dogot, Lucia Kickham, Ryan O'Neill, Stephanie Dufresne and Jazmin Chiodi/Alex Iseli.
