"Roche is a poet of movement, the body her language, which she meticulously articulates into shapes and forms."
Chris O'Rourke, The Arts Review

About

A moving tapestry of live music and dance exploring human connection.

Part gathering, part concert, part improvisation, this live performance is about people gathering together in a time of fractured connections and shifting environments. It explores the desires and compulsions in the urge to move, the charge that circulates in a crowd, the connections between music and movement in shifting spaces of togetherness and separation.

Dēmos is performed by an exceptional cast of eight dancers from Liz Roche Company and three musicians playing live with a further six recorded from Crash Ensemble – breathtaking music and innovative design take centre stage alongside sublime choreography in this multi-disciplinary work.

Commissioned by Dublin Dance Festival and the Abbey Theatre, in partnership with Crash Ensemble and New Music Dublin.

A suite of interconnected shorts, Dēmos – films of separation and togetherness is part of a new collaborative project between choreographer Liz Roche and composer David Coonan, commissioned by Dublin Dance Festival and the Abbey Theatre, which culminates in Dēmos Live

Filmed on the Abbey Stage, the superb cast of Liz Roche Company dancers and Crash Ensemble musicians come together to perform scenes from the new work, in films made in collaboration with filmmaker José Miguel Jiménez. Filmed by Steve O'Connor and Peter Martin.

Commissioned by Dublin Dance Festival and the Abbey Theatre, in partnership with Crash Ensemble and New Music Dublin.

A dance and film installation with live performances for Uillinn dance season 2021.

An immersive and intimate dance and film installation performance [created by choreographer Liz Roche and filmmaker José Miguel Jiménez, with composition by David Coonan, recorded and performed by new music specialists Crash Ensemble and featuring live performances by dancers Emily Terndrup, Luke Murphy, Yumi Lee and musician Kate Ellis.]
